The City of Fort Lauderdale is known as the Venice of America, with it's 165 miles of waterways. You can live along the Intracoastal canal with your mega-yacht or buy a home inland, along the many canals that branch off from the New River Canal. On our beautiful waterways, you'll see anything from a 300 foot yacht to 20 foot boats, to kayaks and paddleboards. If you don't have a boat and want to get out on the water, there's the water taxi, where you can buy a day pass to do some sight-seeing, shopping along Las Olas or bar hopping. Or you can take a Jungle Queen cruise and view Millionaire's Row
and see a few of the 42,000 yachts that are registered in Fort Lauderdale. There's something for everyone here!
The City of Fort Lauderdale is about 38 square miles, but the Greater Fort Lauderdale area includes all of Broward County, which is 1,323 square miles and houses nearly 2 million people. For this page, I'm referring to the City of Fort Lauderdale, which contains approximately 182,000 people. Please visit some of my other pages to learn more about surrounding cities.
Fort Lauderdale has many exclusive waterfront neighborhoods, including neighborhoods along Las Olas and 17th Street Causeway, such as Harbor Beach, Idlewyld, Las Olas Isles, Seven Isles and Rio Vista where a home will cost you anywhere from $1 Million to $50 Million. Coral Ridge has homes with a wide range of prices starting in the $500k-600k range all the way up to $18 Million and is located on the east side of town with both waterfront and land lots. If you're looking for a waterfront home with ocean access closer to $1 Million, you might want to check out Lauderdale Isles. Lauderdale Isles is inland, so it takes about 1 hour to get out to the ocean on a boat, mainly due to no wake zones. But if you're looking for a waterfront home with ocean access, Lauderdale Isles could be a good option for you!
Of course there are many homes and condos that are not waterfront. Even if you don't live on the water, the beach is only a short drive away when you live in Fort Lauderdale. Speaking of the beach, I should also mention if you have a dog, there is a dog beach north of Sunrise Boulevard and also a dog beach in Hollywood. There's a large dog beach in Jupiter with a 2 1/2 mile stretch of beach where dogs are allowed. My girl Blondie, LOVES the beach! Here she is paddleboarding.

Woops - I got a bit off topic! Back to Real Estate in Fort Lauderdale. It's difficult to find much under $250k in Fort Lauderdale, so if you're looking for a home in that price range, you might want to check some of the surrounding cities, such as Sunrise and Tamarac. As a Fort Lauderdale / Broward County resident for most of my life, I know the area well and can help you find a home no matter what your price range is. Whether you're a first time buyer looking for your first home or you're looking for your retirement dream home, I would be happy to help!
